Macau
Macau, also known as Macao, is known to many people as 'Asia's Las Vegas.' Plenty of casinos can be seen once you arrive on Macau's shores. It only takes around 1 hour to travel to Macau from Hong Kong via the Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal; such convenience is the main reason why many travelers to Hong Kong will usually make a day trip to visit Macau and explore what she has to offer.
Besides being renowned for its many casinos, Macau is also a resort city packed with culture and tasty food. Some of the buildings in Macau resemble Hong Kong's buildings - old and worn-down exteriors with dirty staircases lining the interiors. Not all buildings in Macau and Hong Kong look like that, such a description is merely a translation of what I saw during my trip to Hong Kong and Macau, for some of the buildings there. Also, some of the buildings in Macau are heavily influenced by Portuguese culture (FYI, Macau was a colony of the Portuguese empire in 1557), as illustrated in areas like the Ruins of St Paul's Church and Senado Square.
Food-wise, she is most well-known for her Portuguese Egg Tarts. This tiny confectionery is the favorite amongst many tourists and locals due to its cheap price and flavorsome taste. It is flaky and crusty on the outside, and once you bite into it, you can feel the sweet, smooth, and egg custardy texture, complemented with a tinge of bitterness due to the charred glaze on the top of the egg tart. She also has other foods and snacks to offer, which will be shown in the photos below.
Overall, despite only having half a day to spend in Macau, it was still a very enjoyable experience exploring this beautiful city filled with casinos, culture, and tasty food. If any of you decide to come to Hong Kong in the future, I recommend you guys take a day trip to Macau to soak in its unique culture and atmosphere. After all, there's a reason why she is dubbed as 'Asia's Las Vegas', so come and experience Macau for yourself right now! :)
